I recently undertook a major repair of my house in Leopold after a fire caused by an electrical fault.
My house is a 20 Sq. open plan 3 bedroom house with a mix of rammed earth & stud walls with a curved roof, and passive solar design – so there were several non-standard details to contend with.
The fire gutted the laundry and spread through the roof causing damage that together with other heat and smoke damage required replacing part of the roof & stud walls, plus all the electrical & plumbing, cabinetry, fixtures & finishes etc.
I undertook the work as owner builder and engaged McNeil Builders as the professional builders for my project after seeing their work on a friend’s renovation nearby. Craig and his team did excellent work, but he also helped me with :
- costing and scheduling the various stages of the work
- recommending and sourcing excellent subcontractors for the assoc. roofing, plumbing, electrical,
- windows & doors, cabinetry and finishes etc.
- providing practical advice on details and finishes as the work progressed
All work was completed on time and within my budget to a very high standard.
